Being at college can take a toll on anyone’s mental health. Stress can eat at a person’s psyche and keep them from reaching their academic potential. A possible root of this stress could be financial; obtaining mental health care can already be expensive. This is compounded by paying for college, which can lead students into an undesirable situation.
Sinclair Community College is aware of this possibility and provides many resources to help students who find themselves in such a situation. The mental health grant established by Sinclair helps ease the financial burden of mental health care.
Students who wish to participate should know that this is a one-time grant that cannot be given out more than once per student. The grant has a maximum output of $500. Additionally, a student must attend Sinclair for at least three credit hours to be considered.
If a student is given a grant for mental health, they can use it to pay for intensive treatment programs, health insurance premiums, and medical co-pays.

Students who are interested must go through a specific process before being considered for the grant.
The potential recipient must provide paperwork to apply for the grant, including things like name, address, and the specifics of the medical processes you are paying for. They must also give a reason that they should be given a portion of the money, and the specific costs of your expenses.
Filling out paperwork for a $500 grant seems like an easy choice. However, some may feel pressured or deterred from completing the form because of feelings of shame and potential unworthiness. But it is for this reason that this grant exists: All students are deserving of help, support, and care. No matter how small or big a problem may seem, mental health is not a battle that should be fought alone.
Sinclair eagerly awaits to help its tartan family however they can; all that the student requires is an application.
