Being in college is no easy feat. The academic pressure, extracurricular activities and personal responsibilities seemingly start piling up as soon as the semester begins. Along with stress, headaches and anxiety become part of the routine. Fortunately, the Heartfulness Center is here to help.

The center, situated at 3153 Lantz Rd, Beavercreek, Ohio, is run by certified volunteers and is part of the United Nations’s mission for World peace. They offer guided relaxation and meditation sessions both in person and online via Zoom. They even have a Heartfulness app, making it accessible no matter where you are or how packed your schedule is. The best part is that it’s all free.

Heartfulness is a simple yet profound practice that helps us tap into the light and love within our hearts. The purpose of this approach is not just to sit in silence but to foster a sense of peace, clarity and happiness from within.

It is a cheat code, a way to reconnect with oneself amid the chaos of college life which helps to better manage the rigorous academic calendar and the activities thereof.

For most, college is a stepping-stone, a launchpad into the future which consists of chasing dreams and ambitions hoping that it will ultimately yield positive results. But one thing that is certain is that it is difficult. “Heartfulness meditation helps clear the mind of cobwebs so you can function and receive information better.” said Anjali Brannon, certified heartfulness trainer.

Instead of only focusing on external success, it helps create a beautiful balance from within by encouraging contentment, calmness, compassion, courage and clarity for overall well-being.

“We eat healthy and exercise to benefit our bodies, but we don’t do enough for our minds,” said Brannon.

By the end of each semester, students often experience physical and mental exhaustion, operating with minimal energy. Practicing meditation daily, especially in the mornings and evenings, can help reduce stress and fatigue resulting in increased energy and a clearer mind.

“Imagine all the gunk leaving out the back and source of light coming in,” said Brannon.

It is a supportive and nurturing environment, where kindness is at the heart of everything. Everyone is incredibly welcoming and goes above and beyond to ensure comfort and ease. With gentle guidance and support, it is a space that encourages calmness, self-discovery, and a centered state of mind.

“We have been having classes with Sinclair Community College’s employees as part of their wellness program and would love to have them with students as well.” said Brannon. “If there is an interest, we are willing to come three times a week to conduct the free meditation classes.”

Heartfulness offers a path to inner peace and balance by helping to quiet the mind and connect with the heart. With nothing to lose but stress, it may be a worthwhile practice to explore.
