News of legendary actor James Earl Jones’ death has led to an outpouring of grief from his fans around the world. Remembered for his deep and powerful voice as well as stunning turns as Hamlet on Broadway, the Tony Award winner’s passing was announced last night on Sep. 9.
Jones played many of the 20th Century’s most iconic characters. His longlist of credits includes portraying Thulsa Doom opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger in 1982’s “Conan the Barbarian”, Darth Vader in “Star Wars”, and Mufasa in Disney’s “The Lion King”. He would have roles in a wide range of projects as varied as Stanley Kubrick’s masterpiece “Dr. Strangelove” to Eddy Murphy’s breakout comedy “Coming to America.”
Among the legions of people remembering the actor are Oscar-nominated actor Colman Domingo, TV host LaVar Burton, and even the US Army, who noted the actor’s former service in the military.
