The 2022 Broadway World Dayton Award winners have been announced, and your very own local
Sinclair Theatre won three of the eighteen local awards! The Broadway World Dayton Awards are
nominated by the audiences and then selected for the best theatre and performances.
Other awards were given to the Brookville Community Theatre, INNOVA Theatre, Springboro Theatre, Troy Civic Theatre, and Wright State University. So, which Sinclair Theatre performances made the cut?
First, we have the popular and community favorite production which Sinclair puts on annually, A Charlie
Brown Christmas. This audience inclusive play was recognized as “Best Theatre for Young Audiences.”
Second, is The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical, which won two awards and was the runner up
for two more! This engaging production was recognized as “Best Sound Design of a Play or Musical” and
“Best Music Direction & Orchestra Performance.” The two additional awards that this play was a close
runner up for were, “Best Choreography” and “Best Scenic Design of a Play.”
Though it was not a winner, the Comedy-Drama play, She Kills Monsters, was nominated and honored
for “Best Supporting Performer in a Play” and “Best Scenic Design of a Play.”
