Did you know the Office of Student & Community Engagement has been offering free movie streaming, through the library, since Welcome Week? Or that Sinclair students also have access to Kanopy, which offers us free access to its selection of documentary, independent, and critically acclaimed films?
All movies are available all semester but the suggested dates to view them are as follows. For Halloween (October 31st) there’s Stanley Kubrick’s “The Shining”. An R-rated physiological horror, based on the Steven King novel of the same name. Then on November 29th Disney-Pixar’s “Inside Out” is a fun all-age movie based on the personification of human emotion. Lastly, on December 7th “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood”, a movie based on the life of friendly Mr. Fred Rogers, who Tom Hanks plays. To access these films, and many others make sure you’re signed in to your my.sinclar.edu account, and then click any of the links!
School can be very stressful, but relaxing and enjoying a movie can be a great way to ease some of that stress. Caring for yourself and your own peace of mind is vital for your success as a student and your quality of life. Stress is a fact of life but easing it is a great skill to learn. For many people, watching movies is how they relax. Some nice places to watch movies around campus are:
- The Quiet Room, in the Library. The room has a glass door and is near the Starbucks. It is a very peaceful place to relax and watch a film, just remember your headphones!
- The Logia, in the Library. The sofas are comfortable and a wonderful place to relax after school.
- The Tartan Marketplace, the cafeteria. The booths at the cafeteria are comfortable, and although it can be somewhat noisy during rush times, most of the day it is relatively calm.
- Building 13, the lobby. The Building 13 lobby is very underrated, the chairs are nice, it has less foot traffic than most of the other locations.
- The Welcome Center tables, Building 10. The Welcome Center has nice seating areas and a small café. It makes a very nice place to relax.
