The Sinclair Admissions office is usually the first point of contact between prospective students and the college. This is where individuals get all their questions answered and prepare to become a student. However, the Admissions office also helps current students – including by offering them employment.

The Clarion spoke to Marquez Young and Fatin Qundah about the opportunities the Admissions office has for students to work.

According to Young and Qundah, a variety of students take on the role of College Student Ambassador. Ambassadors perform many different tasks, including gathering materials for events and acceptance packets and helping with campus visits. Because of this, students who seek employment as a Student Ambassador should have interpersonal skills, be organized, and be able to manage their time well. They should also be well-connected and kept up to date with the college.

When asked what students can expect from this position, Young and Qundah stated that things in the Admissions office are “fast-paced” and changing frequently. They pointed out the passion that everyone in the department has for Sinclair. The “family-oriented” environment, they said, allows for a sort of “mentorship” with a lot of “peer-to-peer experience.” Young and Qundah also emphasized that the position is fun – Student Ambassadors get a lot of Sinclair merchandise!

Like other student employment opportunities here at Sinclair, Student Ambassadors can schedule their hours around their classes and won’t need to worry about leaving campus to go to work. Young and Qundah reported that there is a lot of “employer support” in the Admissions office and that this is a great opportunity for those in the Federal Work Study program.

While candidates are currently being interviewed, students can stay updated on openings by keeping an eye on Sinclair’s College Central job board. The current Student Ambassador job listing can be found at this link

After completing an application, interested individuals can contact Fatin Qundah at fatin.qundah@sinclair.edu or in Building 10, Room 012 at the Dayton campus.
