From Feb. 15-17, Sinclair will be hosting the 2022 Pet Photo Contest, where all animal-loving staff and students can show their critters off. Whether it be a dog, cat, hamster, or bird, any pet owner is welcome to enter this contest. Students entering can win a grand prize of a $50 campus store gift card, while faculty and staff can enter just for fun.
Those who wish to participate can send in photos of their pets online under a variety of categories starting at 8 a.m. on Feb. 15. These include Most Photogenic, The Best Snuggler, Grumpiest of All, Happiest Pet, Most Loving, Olympic-Ready Athlete, and Funniest Comedian. Participants are limited to one photo per category, and each submission must complete its own entry form.
Once submissions are closed at 8 p.m. on Feb. 17, judges will select one winner from each category, and they will all receive a $10 campus store gift card. In addition to the prize money, all the winning photos will be placed on Winner’s Wall in the Tartan Marketplace the week of Feb. 21.
During that same time, the next round of the competition will begin. In order to decide which pet photo wins the grand prize, students will be able to choose their favorite pet photo in two ways. When students are visiting Winners Wall, they will be able to vote for their favorite in person. However, if for any reason students might not be able to make it to Winners Wall, there will also be virtual voting.
On Facebook, Sinclair will be posting the finalists and will be tallying the likes and comments of each post. Whichever pet gets the most votes, comments and likes will be crowned the winner of the competition. The voting will occur all throughout the week and the winner will be announced on Feb. 25 over Facebook.
This event will be great for students who want to not only show off their pets but their creative side as well. Pets are an important part of many people’s lives and Sinclair wants to celebrate the connection we share with them. Those interested in entering the contest can read the rules and submit their photos here.
