November 11 is Veterans Day in the United States, and to celebrate, Sinclair is hosting a lot of events throughout the entire week to honor those who have served our country. This is all under the banner of Veteran Appreciation Week, and it has events that start as early as Nov. 8, and some go as late as Nov. 19.
For starters, those who visit Room 444 in Building 10 from Nov. 8 to 12 are able to get a free oil change voucher courtesy of the Automotive Department. Also starting November 8 is the Sinclair Coffee Drive for Veterans. This event is being run by the Military Family Education Center, or MFEC, until Nov. 19, and the group is asking for donations of cans, bags, or k-cups of coffee. People can drop these items off at any MFEC location from 8 a.m to 5 p.m and the donations will all go to the Dayton VA.
These programs coincide with the Decorate a Coffee Mug event, where people can paint a mug that will also be donated to the Dayton VA. This fun and creative way to show support for our nation’s troops will be held on multiple dates at multiple locations.
On November 8, people will be able to paint the mugs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the MFEC Centerville and Mason locations. The event is available during the hours of 8 a.m. – 10 a.m. at the Englewood and Huber Heights Locations on Nov.10, as well as at the Dayton location from the hours of 1-5 p.m. The final day of the event will be held Friday, Nov. 12, from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. at the Tartan Marketplace on Sinclair Campus.
The morning of November 10 also has a Webinar from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m, on the subject of Combat Flip Flops. This event is online and is being held by the Diversity office. Starting at 1 p.m. at the MFEC Dayton Campus will be the MFEC Open House. Not only featuring the aforementioned mug painting but card and banner signing and even cake. This event will end at 5 pm.
