In-Person Graduation Ceremony for Sinclair Students

This year Sinclair will not only be having one in-person graduation ceremony for 2021 graduates, it will have two. Both commencement ceremonies will take place on Thursday, May 6 at the University of Dayton Basketball Arena.

This announcement follows a year of virtual commencement ceremonies due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, this commencement will be different than any other year as many safety guidelines need to be in place.

The ceremony is being split into two groups to accommodate capacity restrictions. It is currently unclear how many people will be allowed to attend at this time but it will certainly be much less people than in a typical year.

The first ceremony will be at 10:00 a.m. for students of the Business & Public Services Division and students of the Liberal Arts, Communication & Social Sciences Division.

The second ceremony will be on the same day at 4:00 p.m. for students of the Health Sciences Division and students of the Science, Math & Engineering Division.

The entire arena will be deep-cleaned before and after each ceremony.

The unusual time and day of the week for the graduations is due to the University of Dayton having to work around COVID-19 protocols for several of their own ceremonies.

Both events will be an hour long and limited to 500 graduates. Graduates can have up to four guest tickets, and ceremonies will be live streamed for those unable to attend in person. Faculty and staff attendance will likely be limited to ensure students and their families have first priority.
