On January 20, Joe Biden was sworn in as the 46th President of the United States, but what has he accomplished since then? Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris got straight to work to put their plan into action.

In the first 26 days, this is what Biden and his administration have accomplished.

Changes Within the White House

Beginning his presidency, Biden updated and redesigned the White House, filling the Oval Office with statues of noted activists, such as Martin Luther King Jr., for positive change. That isn’t the only change in the White House, Biden also has a strict no-bullying policy and has even told his administration that he will not hesitate to fire staff members if he catches them talking down to another member in Congress.

Coronavirus

He has tackled the COVID-19 virus. First, Biden implemented a mask requirement, in which people will be required to wear masks and socially distance while on federal government property. Next, Biden called for the United States to rejoin the World Health Organization, making Dr. Anthony Fauci the delegation head. In turn, this has aided the United States, allowing for the country to receive more vaccines. He also gave out more stimulus checks/money.

He revised Obamacare and some of its policies.

Climate Change and the Environment

He has had active discussions and meetings with the press and members of his staff to figure out ways to combat climate change.

Race

He is making strides to help racial equality in areas like healthcare, education, and access to COVID-19 vaccine centers.

Education

Working alongside his wife and first lady Dr. Jill Biden, Biden intends to work on America’s education system, aiming to eliminate student debt.

Immigration

He has talked about the issue of Immigration and has told people to stop building the wall because he believes there is a better way to regulate the problem. He abolished the Muslim ban that was put in place by former President Trump in 2017.

LGBTQ+ rights and equality

His administration has reversed a lot of laws against the LGBTQ+ community put in place by former President Donald Trump. These include allowing members of the transgender community to be allowed to fight in the military. He also issued an executive order to prevent discrimination against the LGBTQ+ community.

Gun Control

He has also called on Congress to help him pass gun laws and restrictions. In this plan, Biden also calls for the ban of assault weapons
This is only the first three weeks of being in office. The Biden-Harris administration is continuing to work. According to the Washington Post, Biden has “far outpaced Trump, Obama and Bush on early executive orders” by having passed enough executive orders that outdated or overruled policies Trump put in place.
