Justin A. Baker was born in Toledo, Ohio. However, he grew up in Jamaica till the age of 4 then relocated back to the States for financial and educational reasons. He has two younger sisters and a mother from Jamaica.

In 2008, he entered college for the first time at Wright State University then took nine years off while he worked hard and tried to make it as an adult.

His major here at Sinclair is Criminal Justice and Political Science. He says that he has always had a positive experience with the police and wants to help change the negative view of police in the world today.

Baker says, “The way you change something is through the inside.” After Sinclair, Baker plans to join the Police Academy or attend Howard University in Washington D.C.

After schooling, he plans to work for the FBI and help catch the bad guys at the top to make the world safer. The FBI is not Baker’s end goal though, as he hopes to end up working for the government as a congressman.

In his spare time, he enjoys writing, reading, playing and finding vintage video games and making short films with friends. He is an avid Netflix watcher and enjoys a wide variety of shows and music. He is always looking for new movies or music to listen to and enjoy.

Baker also enjoys cooking as one of his many hobbies and trying new dishes. He enjoys elaborate drinks from Starbucks from time to time as well, since recently trying coffee for the first time.

Baker is involved with many activities on campus. Such as being involved in many groups at Sinclair, he is a member of Ohio Fellows and African American Male Initiative (AAMI). He works as a Student Tutor in the library and formally worked as a Student Ambassador.

He also writes for the Clarion and does some of the mascot duties around campus. You can always find Baker somewhere on campus making people laugh.

Baker said, “I’m a guy you always see around, whos always working hard to help make sure everyone is having fun.” Justin Baker always has a smile on his face and keeps a ready to help attitude.
