Travis Irvine, a native Ohioan raised in Columbus, is running for Ohio Governor with running mate Todd Grayson. Irvine is running in the Libertarian party, a historical underdog in Ohio. Irvine has spent his adult life exposing himself to politics, interning in Washington D.C., running for mayor and more.
The pair has a focus on three things they expect to be able to accomplish in four years.
Irvine and Grayson would like to end taxation and regulations that harm citizens and small businesses. The pair believes that many small businesses struggle to get off the ground because of policies and regulation implemented by the government.
They also have a focus on criminal justice reformation. They want laws to be made more simple and easily understood by the common person.
They want to end warrantless wiretaps, provide our law enforcement with more de-escalation training, close private prisons, begin the evaluation of prison living conditions and encourage implementation of more opportunities for prisoners to learn trades and life skills.
Their other top three focus is the legalization of marijuana. With the Quinnipiac poll reporting that more than 52 percent of Ohioans supporting its recreational use, and more than 90 percent supporting its medicinal use, they see that Ohioans want this change.
They argue there is no correlation between marijuana and the use of opioids, and that there is financial value in its sale, giving it potential to end our state’s budget deficit.
These three things would mark major changes to our state and the daily lives of Ohioans. The pair has many plans and would like to give citizens more freedom and privacy.
The pair supports Issue 1, a hot topic on the ballot for Ohioans. To learn more about Issue 1, click here. Irvine stated, “While Issue 1 is not perfect, I’m urging everyone to vote yes because it’s a significant step in the right direction.”
Though they affiliate with a minority party, the pair supports what many Ohio constituents are on the lookout for. The Libertarian party is growing and Irvine and Grayson are part of that growth.
If you haven’t heard of the Libertarian party, but would like to learn more go here. The party appeals to a crowd of people who want to see liberty prosper further in America, with government putting its hands in less and leaving more freedom to the people.
