Monday Night Raw was live last night in Dallas. Texas. After an eventful Hell in a Cell pay per view, who walked out of Hell as Universal Champion?
Raw kicks off with the still Universal Champion Roman Reigns. At the Hell in a Cell pay per view, he and Braun Strowman destroyed each other inside Hell in a Cell. However, the story is not Roman Reigns or Braun Strowman, the story was former Universal Champion Brock Lesnar. At Hell in a Cell, Lesnar made his return during the Hell in a Cell match and destroyed both Braun and Roman, leaving them in heep with no winner.
Roman does not wait and called out Brock Lesnar. However, Braun answers the call. Braun wants his shot at the Universal Championship because the Hell in a Cell match was left without a winner. Acting General Manager Baron came out and stated that he talked it over with Stephanie McMahon to come up with a solution.
Baron states that on Friday, November 16 in Saudi Arabia at WWE Crown Jewel, Roman Reigns will defend the Universal Championship against Braun Strowman and Brock Lesnar in a Triple Threat Match.
Out came then Paul Heyman. Paul believes that Lesnar’s reign as Universal Champion made millions for WWE. He claims that Braun and Roman conspired against Lesnar at SummerSlam leading to Lesnar losing the Universal Championship. He then stated that in Saudi Arabia, Brock Lesnar will once again become the WWE’s Crown Jewel. Braun hears enough and then chases off Paul Heyman.
Acting General Manager Baron Corbin then made a blockbuster announcement and that is Roman Reigns will defend the Universal Championship on Raw against himself, Baron Corbin.
Dean Ambrose v. Drew McIntyre
At Hell in a Cell, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins fought like hell, but came up short at reclaiming the Raw Tag Team Championships. At Hell in a Cell, their respective teams put on one of the greatest tag team matches in recent years.
These two last night ended their night on top Hell in a Cell. On Raw, the slug it out one more time. One of the last times before their upcoming matchup at WWE Super ShowDown in Australia as Drew teams up with Braun Strowman and Dolph Ziggler as they take on The Shield.
In a really hard hitting match, Drew was able to capitalize on a crucial mistake made by Dean and hit the Claymore for the win. Dean seemed to be holding the back of his head after taking a nasty fall, which led to Drew picking up the win.
Chad Gable v. Viktor
Over the past few weeks, the new team of Chad Gable and Bobby Roode have one up The Ascension in their recent encounters. This week, Chad Gable took on Viktor in singles competition. Each week, Chad Gable continues to impress, picking up the win with the Chaos Theory German Suplex.
After the match, Gable and Roode began to celebrate the win until Connor ran through both of them, send a message that it is still their wasteland.
The Undertaker Returns
In a rare Raw appearance, The Undertaker returns to speak about the upcoming match with Triple H at WWE Super Showdown in Australia.
Undertaker states that Triple H has lost his vision and mind. He has lost his edge for a more corporate game. Undertaker believes that deceit and deception will Triple H’s biggest downfall.
Undertaker goes on to explain that Shawn Michaels will be in the corner of Triple H in Australia. That is why The Undertaker states that in his corner will be his Brother of Destruction, Kane. October 6 will be must see.
Bayley v. Dana Brooke
Bayley with her best friend Sasha Banks at her side took on Dana Brooke. Dana Brooke is flying solo now as she has parted ways with Titus Worldwide.
In a pretty quick match, Bayley was able to pick up the victory with the Bayley to Belly.
Authors of Pain v. Local Talent
Since the beginning of the leadership of Drake Maverick, AOP has continued to send a dangerous message to the Raw Tag Team Division. AOP continues to get stronger and more dominant each and every week. Look out for AOP because they have gold on their mind.
Dolph Ziggler v. Seth Rollins: Intercontinental Championship
After going through hell, Dolph Ziggler invokes his rematch clause for a shot at the Intercontinental Championship. At Hell in a Cell, Seth and Dolph launched each other off the Hell in a Cell crashing through the announce tables to the floor.
Dolph seemed to have the vision that he was going to be awarded the Intercontinental Championship by forfeit. However, Seth is a fighting champion and will do anything to retain the Intercontinental Championship.
These two never fail to disappoint. To fight through all the pain from last night and continue to put a toll on their body for the workhorse championship. Seth was able to hit the Stomp on Dolph to retain the Intercontinental Championship. One heck of a contest.
Ronda Rousey’s Raw Women’s Championship Open Challenge
At Hell in a Cell, Ronda Rousey successfully defended the Raw Women’s Championship against Alexa Bliss. To show she is a fighting champion, she invites anyone to try to defeat her for the Raw Women’s Championship.
Natalya seemed to be the one who answer the open challenge. However, she was dragged out by The Riott Squad. The Riott Squad then used the numbers game to beat down Ronda. Until, The Bella Twins came down for the save. These six women will meet October 6 in Australia in a 6 women tag at Super Showdown.
Elias v. Bobby Lashley
Has the ball officially been dropped on Bobby Lashley? He went from beating Roman Reigns at Extreme Rules and on pace to get a shot at the Universal Championship only 2 months ago, to another guy in the mid-card shuffle of Raw. His feud with Kevin Owens is one of his biggest since coming back to WWE. However, if Bobby loses the feud, then where would he go next? We shall take it one night at a time.
Elias before the match mocks Bobby Lashley for not winning when it matters. As Elias begin his song, Lio Rush comes out to call out Elias. Lio calls himself the “Man of the Hour.” He states that he represents his new client Bobby Lashley.
During the match, Kevin Owens came out to destroy Lio Rush. However, Lio’s agility and elusiveness gave Bobby the advantage to one-up KO.
Mickie James & Alicia Fox v. Ember Moon & ???
Hell in a Cell did not go as planned for Alexa Bliss against Ronda Rousey. Her group looks to get back on track against Ember Moon and a mystery partner. Who will team with the hometown girl?
Welcome back Nia Jax. It has been a few months since the last time we have seen Nia Jax. Nia has not lost a step. She and Ember were able to run through Mickie and Alicia for the win in this competitive matchup.
Baron Corbin v. Roman Reigns: Universal Championship
Acting General Manager Baron Corbin is showing his power by giving himself a shot at the Universal Championship.
In a competitive match, Baron accidentally gets himself disqualified after hitting Roman with a steel chair. But, since Baron has the power, he restarted the match as a no disqualification match.
In the restarted match, Roman Reigns was able to overcome the odds of Braun Strowman, Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler with the help of his Shield brothers to retain the Universal Championship.
Conclusion
My final thoughts on Raw this week was that yet again, Raw has put on an entertaining show. A good story told throughout the show and the good guys getting the one up on the bad guys was refreshing. Felt almost like an old episode of Raw. Plus the championship matches on Raw was also a big plus. Raw is going in a definite positive direction.
