Post Animal, a new and growing rock ‘n roll band from Chicago, Ill., has been touring around America. The band has been making music with one another for years now but first released music to the public in 2015.
Post Animal posted to their Instagram account on Jan. 2 that they would be going back on tour starting this month, their first gig being Jan. 26 in Boston, Mass. The band will be performing in Cleveland, Ohio. on Feb. 3 at the Grog Shop. Tickets are $20 and the show starts at 9 p.m.
The band consists of several members who come and go, but tends to regularly consist of five: Javi Reyes on vocals and guitar, Matt Williams on guitar, Dalton Allison on bass, Jake Hirshland playing keys and Wes Toledo on drums. Many of the members can play several instruments.
Joe Keery, the 25 year-old who plays Steve Harrington in Netflix’s popular show, “Stranger Things” is also part of the band but has been fairly inactive recently. Keery is featured in the bands song “Lonely Jones.”
Keery, due to scheduling conflicts with ‘Stranger Things’, has had little time to play with the band but still makes it out to play shows sometimes. Keery supports the band often on social media and appears to still be part of the group. Keery can play guitar, drums and sing, but appears to most often play guitar when live.
Reyes, one of the guitarists in the band, had a stroke onstage in New York last November. He is back playing again, but will likely be taking it easy during the upcoming tour.
The band has played several shows, often with other bands possessing a similar sound as them. They call their genre “Heavy Psych Pop.” They have traveled to nearly every state in the United States, and parts of Canada in the past year.
The band has music accessible on many platforms including Spotify, Apple Music and the Bandcamp App.
Their most popular song, “When I Get Home,” is from their album released in July 2016. They have two albums available and one single. They plan to release more music this year.
On May 12 last year the band released their song and music video for their single and most recent song, “Special Moment.” This music video is their first theatrical music video, as their other videos consisting of a color or simple image display.
Last January Post Animal had a smaller fan base and never toured, and only just played one of their first live shows.
