Dear Sinclair Foundation,
I would like to show my appreciation by saying I really am proud to have been able to have made the trip to Guatemala. It was one of the best things I have done in my life.
On this trip, in such a short period of time, I was able to do so many things that I had been waiting to do. Some examples of things I did that were new to me were getting on a plane for the first time, leaving the country for the first time, and trying different foods that I have no eaten before.
Also, I met so many nice people that live in deep poverty but are still willing to give back. This really deepened my understanding that I have little to no excuse to not be the best I can be. The trip also opened my eyes to trying a lot of new things that are positive to do, such as giving back and motivating people to give back.
For example, our group built stoves so that families had a place to prepare their meals. Their existing stoves were outside, worn down by the weather, and just not working well. Our group also took first-aid kits, school supplies, toys, and stickers for the families and their children.
Words cannot explain how happy I am to have met the people of Guatemala and the students and faculty that went on this trip.
With sincere appreciation,
Brandon Dunson
