Here is a list of activities all across the Miami Valley For Sinclair students who are looking for something to do when not occupied with school or work.
On Saturday, June 20, The Venue on the third will be hosting the “Hood kings of Comedy” tour. Presented by Monsta Amusement, the show will include the world-renowned comedians Pierre, Charles “Ice Cream” Washington, “T.C.” Cope and Dayton’s very own Mark Gregory. Musical guests include Gary “Lil G” Jenkins of the 90s R&B group “Silk” with the Salty Sugah band featuring Dee Jones. Doors will open at 7:00 p.m. with the show starting at 8:30 p.m. Early tickets are $10 with advanced tickets’ being $15 and $20 at the door.
On Thursday, June 18, The Rose Music Center at the Heights will present renowned musical artist Flo Rida featuring Echosmith and Olly Murs. Flo Rida is known for hits “I Cry,” “Club can’t handle me” and “Right Round.” Echosmith, who debuted in 2012, have recorded song “Tonight We’re Making History,” which was used as promo for the 2013 Olympics. On Friday, July 10, The Dayton Visual Arts Center will host their 23rd annual open members show. The event is open to all members of the center and will host popular exhibitions on display in the DVAC gallery all year.
Starting on Saturday, July 4, the Dayton Art Institute will host their “Call of Duty” exhibition, which will showcase more than 70 original posters from World War I and World War II. The posters, done by famous artists such as Norman Rockwell, James Montgomery Flagg, and Howard Chandler Christy paint pictures of human efforts during these iconic wars. The exhibit will be featured during the institute’s times of Tuesday – Saturday, 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Sunday, 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., with extended hours on Thursdays until 8:00 p.m.
On Saturday, June 27, Arbor Hall host their annual Ballroom dancing with Swing and Sway. Hosted every 4th Saturday, Swing ‘n’ Sway dance parties provide a mix of Latin, swing dancing and line dances thrown during the evening. Single, married, beginner and accomplished dancers are welcome. The event is also a fundraiser for charity groups as local food banks, abuse shelters, and Toys For Tots. On Tuesday, August 4, the Fraze Pavillion for performing arts will present recording artist group, Sugar Ray, featuring rock group Better than Ezra and recording artist Uncle Kracker.
