The Sinclair baseball team isn’t the only one dominating their opponents this season. The softball team is 17-4 right now and have won seven games in the past three days. According to the Sinclair Athletic website, they are third in the country in hitting, pitching, and fielding. They are batting an impressive .436 average while the bullpen is holding batters in check with an ERA of 3.47. They also have the most strikeouts of any team that has played in 17 games or less.
During their seven games won in the past three days, the Tartans have outscored their opponents 62-17.
In two of the games the Pride scored 16 runs each. Rachael Ward was six-for-six including three RBIs, one home run and two doubles.
Kelly Wood and Haleigh Perry were named Players of the Week for the weeks of March 9 and March 22. Wood hit 17 for 25 with 10 runs, five doubles, two triples, three home runs, and 18 RBIs last week while Perry went 5-0 while only allowing 26 hits, three earned runs, and zero walks. She also struck out 22 batters over 25.1 innings. Both Wood and Perry are having amazing seasons so far. Wood is batting .479, with 21 RBIs, seven doubles, two triples, and four home runs off of just 23 hits. Perry is dealing a 2.13 ERA on 46 innings pitched with 31 strikeouts and only giving up 48 hits. Perry is also 6-1 for the year as of right now.
The Pride have certainly gotten off to a hot start while they are riding a 13-game winning streak right now. The team together has an average of .442 and have knocked in 21 home runs. Their games with Owens CC have been postponed so their next few games will be double-headers against conference rival Cuyahoga CC and a double-header against Indiana Tech.
