Sinclair Community College welcomed two individuals to the provost office on Nov. 1.
Dr. Lori Zakel was named associate provost, and Dr. Kathleen Cleary was named the associate provost for student completion.
Zakel started at Sinclair upon graduating high school as a Liberal Arts major. After earning her associate degree from Sinclair, she completed her bachelor’s degree in Organizational Communication at the University of Wyoming.
She then earned her master’s degree in Communication from Antioch University, then earned her doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Dayton.
Afterward, she worked in the marketing field and taught part-time at Sinclair, then was later asked to teach full-time at Sinclair in Communication.
She later served as the chair of the Communication department, then the dean of Liberal Arts, Communication and Social Sciences.
Cleary started her time at Sinclair by teaching and directing plays in the Theatre department. She also served as the chair of the Theatre and Dance department, as well as the Associate Professor of Theatre.
“I love my work in helping more students complete their goals,” Cleary said in an email interview. “Since I believe that education is the single best hope of ending intergenerational poverty, this work is more of a calling for me than a job.”
