Unique holidays in September

ByClarion Staff

Sep 10, 2013

Each month, the Clarion will be featuring an article on unique holidays held in the respective month. This month, we will feature the unique holidays in the month of September.

What if Sept.11 was not just a day to remember the tragic events that happened, but also a day to make your bed? Yes, you heard me right — Sept. 11 is national Make your Bed Day. This day is pretty self-explanatory — make your bed. For those of who you have a habit of making your bed every day anyway, take this day to go against the norm and don’t make your bed. Who knows, you may feel enlightened and never make your bed until this holiday rolls around again.

Hopefully it rains on Sept.12, because this day is National Video Games Day. On this day, you can wear your favorite Mario shirt with a purpose. For those looking forward to celebrating, go to Gamestop and buy a video game you have never heard of, grab your nearest nerdy friend or relative and have a great time playing video games until the sun goes down.

Sept.13 is Blame Someone Else Day. We have all wanted to blame someone else at some point in our lives without consequence, and now it is our chance. Go tell your mom that she is the reason you never get homework done because she gave you Internet access. She wanted you to get distracted and get on Facebook and Twitter instead of doing your assignments, blame her.

Sept. 14 is National Cream-Filled Donut Day, otherwise known as an excellent excuse to bring donuts to class in the morning. A donut can go a long way for a class you do not enjoy, let alone a morning class.

Sept. 17 is Constitution Day. On this day, it won’t seem strange at all if you go around campus reciting the constitution at any point you would like. Fix it into normal conversation and show your skill, it won’t be weird at all. It’s Constitution Day.

Is the pirate life for you? If so, Sept.19 is Talk Like a Pirate Day. Go around talking like a pirate with your friends, or take a chance and convince your teachers that you are Jack Sparrow.

Sept.21 is Miniature Golf Day. On this day, you can casually ask that cute girl or guy from class to go out and play putt-putt with you. After that who knows, you may make putt-putt a weekly excuse to ask cute girls or guys for dates.

Sept. 22 is Business Women’s Day. On this day, you can go find that working businesswoman and tell her how awesome she is. Maybe you can start a business on this day just to invite women. Do whatever you want, but keep it business casual.

Go ahead and be stupid on Sept. 28, because that day just happens to be Ask a Stupid Question Day. If you are sitting in math class and are wondering why giraffes cannot fly, go ahead and ask. After all, it is Ask a Stupid Question Day.

Hopefully these unique holidays will give you a break from the monotomy of the new semester.

If you have any holidays worth celebrating, submit them to the Clarion via email, at clarion@sinclair.edu. Happy celebrating!
