The Early Childhood Education Department offers an Early Learning Center for students, faculty, staff and people of the community with young children.
The Center offers Early Childhood Education majors an opportunity to learn hands-on what it’s like to work with children.
From April 8 through April 12, the Early Learning Center will hold the Week of the Young Child during the same week of its book fair, for the children and their families.
“It really brings to the forefront, needs of young children, their families and the people who work with them and that would include us, those of us who are in education and care,” Chair of the Early Childhood Education Department Carla Rhoades said.
On Monday, the children got the chance to attend the book fair. On Tuesday, the families of the children will get the chance to visit the center to view artwork the children have created. On Thursday, the children will get the chance to have breakfast with a grandparent or special person.
The Sinclair Community College students involved in the Early Learning Center will get the chance to see how the teachers in the Center interact with the families.
Rhoades said the Week of the Young Child is part of the National Associate for the Education of Young Children, which is one of the Center’s accrediting agencies.
