Sinclair Community College’s Communication Department will host its annual speech competition in the Library Loggia, during the Honors Symposium on Wednesday, April 17 from noon to 4 p.m.
Instructors teaching Effective Public Speaking classes will select four candidates who constructed a foundation of skills and principles toward becoming a better speaker.
The four chosen will compete amongst each other for an opportunity to receive a scholarship.
“This is an opportunity to become a better speaker in front of an audience and it can also be a resume builder for the future of these students,” Administrative Assistant Jennifer Resseguie said.
The competition will require candidates to prepare an invitational speech that shares his idea, values and beliefs so that the audience may discuss and discover the details in a dialogue.
Myra Bozeman, professor and master of ceremonies, will coordinate the event.
“I’m here to make sure everybody that competes gets what they deserve,” she said.
Competitors will be judged by their explanation of main points, transitioning ability and the capability to grab the audience’s attention with an appropriate conclusion.
All Sinclair students, faculty and visitors are granted free access to the event.
