Spring has come, and with it the biggest event of the Student Leadership Association’s year.
The Spring Fling is a day of free food, games and performances that take place each year in the basement of Building 8.
“It is going to be big,” said Miesha Russell, student event coordinator for SLA. “It’s the end of the year thing. It’s a little break, kind of wrapping up the school year.”
The event will host a variety of Sinclair clubs and almost 40 outside vendors. The event is being co-hosted this year by the Brite-Signal Alliance and the theme is “Block Party.”
There will be drawings every hour on the hour from 12-3 p.m. Although the prizes are a secret, Russell said that they’re electronic and “they will be useful, people are going to love them…it gets me through long boring car rides.”
Although everyone is welcome to attend the event, only Sinclair students may win hourly drawings.
Free ice cream and hot dogs will be provided at noon. A caricature artist and picture booth will also be at the event. Karaoke will be taking place at various times during the day and table-top carnival games will be offered.
“It’s all free,” said Russell.
Two new dance clubs will be performing at the event. The Last Kings Dance club, a hip-hop dancing group, the Zumba club and the Flash Mob Dance club will be showing off their moves.
The Sinclair Book Store will be presenting a fashion show to display their new merchandise and will have a table where students can buy what they like.
“It’s the last, biggest SLA event that we have, it’s going to be exciting, it really is,” said Russell. “It’s going to be the best event of the year, and students need to attend.”
