The Preble County Learning Center (PCLC) is hosting an enrollment fair on June 2.

Interim PCLC coordinator Evan Kloth said the goal of the fair is to help students start their enrollment process at the fair.

“The goal is for graduating seniors from all Preble County area high schools, as well as current and other prospective students, to have the opportunity to attend this enrollment event and take care of all the steps of the enrollment process in one evening,” Kloth said.

The fair also aims to be a community event, according to Kloth.

“We want to bring families, local businesses, and community members together for a celebration of Preble County’s young people,” Kloth said.

At the fair, students can meet with academic advisers, register for fall and summer classes, take a placement test and speak with financial aid representatives.  Kloth said there will also be a scholarship raffle.

He said the fair will also have food and drinks.

Kloth feels this event might help grow the PCLC.

“This will hopefully be an initiative to bring prospective high school seniors to not only Sinclair, but to the PCLC,” Kloth said.  “It is our desire that families will come together and not only celebrate their child graduating, but also celebrate them deciding to further their education and making us their choice. We believe it is a very wise choice.“

Kloth, who has worked at the Englewood and Huber Heights Learning Centers, said the enrollment fairs of the past have been successful.

“We have had huge success with our Learning Center enrollment events, largely due to the teamwork of Sinclair faculty and staff at both the regional campuses as well as our Dayton campus,” Kloth said.  “If it weren’t for the many wonderful people who volunteer their time to help us at these events, they would surely not be as successful.”

Kloth said he hopes the event will let students and non-students feel more comfortable about going to college.

“These events give students an opportunity to attend a Sinclair function in the comfort of their own communities,” Kloth said. “This will hopefully help to make the college enrollment process an easy one, and help students to realize that college is not only an smart option for them, but a simple and convenient one as well.”
