Hardwork, determination, and perseverance are three traits that are needed to become successful. Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) System Technician Adam Williford has shown these traits and was recently recognized for his completion of his program.

The Siemens Corporation recently awarded Williford for outstanding accomplishment in completing their master curriculum program.

Anyone who successfully attends the classes needed for the master operator program receives a plaque for completion. He also took extra courses like Programming for Efficient Buildings, which is geared toward teaching someone to help equipment run more efficiently.

The classes he took at the Siemens corporations in Cincinnati are the Workstation Operator, Advance Workstation Operator, Field Panel and FLN Operations, Introductions to PPCL Programming and Programming for Efficient Buildings.

Williford transferred from Wright State University to Sinclair Community College in 1999 because he wanted to get into the workforce faster. He took a look into HVAC and decided to give it a try.

“My first day I had to ask what HVAC stood for, I had no idea what it was.” Williford said. “But I learned quickly, did well in classes, and the instructors like me a lot which encouraged me to seek out employment in HVAC.”

After completing his courses at Sinclair, Williford fell into an outside job, but he always wanted to come back and work for Sinclair and “spend the rest of his employed life.”

In 2006, Williford took the place of a recently retired HVAC electrician, but his role was later expanded to his current position HVAC System Technician.

“A lot of the qualifications for the job looked just like my resume so it was a perfect fit,” Williford said.

Williford said he is thankful for Sinclair because it is a wonderful place for employees that provide the employees to improve themselves.

“Sinclair strives to be a leader in energy conservation,” Williford said. “Anything that would push us closer to that goal Sinclair is willing to help out with.”
