Managing her time important to school, life

There can be a balance between school and family, according to Deanna Moorman.

Moorman, an accounting student, attends Sinclair Community College and is also raising her two-year-old son, Gabe with her boyfriend.

Moorman said that the transition to Sinclair was difficult because it is “very time-consuming.” Moorman said that she has an issue with managing her time but she said she’s “big on scheduling the day out.”

“I’m organized,” said Moorman.

Moorman also said that there’s a “negative effect” on her ability to spend time with her family.

“The three of us together comes in last place,’” she said.

The household is simply not at the top of the list, according to Moorman. This includes the house not being as clean as she would like and showing little attention to her pet.

“Poor dog doesn’t get enough attention,” said Moorman.

Moorman said that she copes by “getting away from it all.” She does this by planning such activities such as going to see a ballet She also said that she tries to have “down time” with her family. Moorman said that she and her boyfriend, Adam, are not allowed to “bring school and work to home.”

Moorman has found Sinclair to be helpful. She said that Sinclair is “convenient, close, and affordable.” However, she feels that there should be “more parking.”

“I hate taking that shuttle,” said Moorman.

Even though she’s dealing with the disadvantages, Moorman does see the positive side. Moorman will be receiving her associate degree next year. Afterward, she plans on taking the CPA exam and getting a job in
the industry.

Outside of her school and career goals, Moorman would like to have another child. When it comes to juggling family and school, Moorman said that she believes a person can do it. “Take it one day at a time,” she said.

That, she said, is what has helped her find her balance.
