FACTS payment plan can benefit any student

The FACTS payment plan can help students figure out a way to pay for classes, according to Teresa Albertini in the Bursar’s Office.

Students who don’t have the money for the full payment of tuition up front but also don’t want to acquire a loan should seek out FACTS, Albertini said.

“It takes your tuition and typically cuts it into three payments,” Albertini said.  “Sometimes four in the fall, but usually three.”

Payments are processed on the 5th or 20th of each month and will continue until the balance is paid.

The FACTS payment plan is set up through facts.sinclair.edu, comes with an initial $15 fee and anyone using it must provide a credit card or bank account so the payments can be automatically deducted, according to Albertini.  It takes “about 3-5 minutes” to sign up online, or students can visit the Sinclair Central.  It will ask for the student to read and agree to the terms and conditions, then “goes through and asks for banking information,” according to Albertini.

“It’s user-friendly for everyone,” Albertini said.

Students need to be registered in FACTS by March 17 at midnight.  If set up by then, students would have their first payment due the next day.  However, if a student signs up any later, the payment is due immediately.

“The last day available to register is April 1,” Albertini said.

The plan is available for any quarter, including summer, and about 2,000 students use it a quarter, although “we can accommodate any number of students,” according to Albertini.  Fall quarter saw the number jump to about 2,800.

“Almost any student would benefit if they don’t want to pay off their whole balance at once,” Albertini said.

Sinclair has an agreement with FACTS, a company based out of Nebraska.  Albertini said the payment plan has been available for 6-7 years at Sinclair.
