Vice president of Advancement takes position at DPL

As of Jan. 3 Tom Raga, vice president for Advancement, has moved to a new position at DPL, Inc. A search for his replacement has already been commenced, according to Sinclair Community College President Steven Johnson.

Raga has held the position since July of 2008 and during his time has made immeasurable improvements within the division, Johnson said.

The advancement division consists of the Sinclair foundation, alumini association, grants development and management, public policy and legislative affairs and entrepreneurial investments.

During his time here he has increased the value of the Sinclair foundation by more than $5 million in addition to major donor pledges and gifts, received $26 million in grants for the college, Increased by nearly %50 the number of alumni donors and awarded nearly $7 million in scholarships and program support, according to an e-mail sent by Megan Laughter, assistant to the president.

“Tom brought a very powerful and important set of skills. He has extradoinary financial planning, fundraising and strategic planning skills. I am very happy that he’s staying in the Dayton community,” Johnson said. “He’s not leaving us in the sense we will be connected with Tom. We will be working with Tom for a long time he will just be in a different place but he will be supporting and advocating for Sinclair at his position.”

As the search for Raga’s replacement takes place President Johnson has named Joe Gorman, former vice president and CFO as the interim vice president for Advancement.
