Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor:

This letter is in response to the article that was submitted recently by B.W. Wheeler regarding SLA’s Harvest Day event in last week’s newspaper. I will begin by saying that Wheeler is right about one thing; we were unable to give away free candied apples due to unforeseen last minute changes in the menu. However, we did, in fact, serve free pizza and apple cider.

Because of the overwhelming number of students that were present when the event began, we quickly ran out of pizza and apple cider. Not only did we ration the food to be sure that we could serve as many people as possible, but we did not allow students to have more than one serving. It was on a first come first serve basis and unfortunately 90 minutes into the event, the pizza and apple cider had been gone for an extended period of time.

Several students also participated in the corn hole games that were set up in the stage area throughout the event. So it is very unfortunate and quite disappointing to hear that you had such a bad experience. While we appreciate all comments and suggestions and will keep them in mind for our future endeavors, we would like to thank our winners of the corn hole games and all other participants of the Harvest Day festivities.

Sincerely,

Kolita Hollins
