Anyone with a laptop knows that the most important resource to have is an outlet plug. Go to any Panera or Starbucks and you’ll see that the seats next to the outlets are taken first. So where can you plug in if you want to use your laptop at school? Here are the top three locations I’ve found.
3. Computer labs
Every computer at Sinclair Community College has to plug in somewhere, and the power strips in computer labs usually have unused plugs. However, you have to sign in to use a computer, and if you’ve already got a computer, you’d only need to use a laptop for software and files. The downside is that Wi-Fi signals might not be very strong. Still, if you need a quick charge while getting your work done, this might be the way to go.
2. Building 13
Plugs are sparse in the buildings surrounding the library, but there are plugs on nearly every floor of Building 13. There are chairs and tables near most of the plugs in the common areas. There are even plugs in the hallways, though I don’t recommend using them due to heavy foot traffic. On any given day students can be found plugging in to study, listen to music, complete assignments or even play online games. If you’re going to plug in at Building 13, get there early. Many people plug in for a few hours.
1. Tartan Main Street Café
There are at least twelve plugs, a long counter and half a dozen chairs along a wall in the café in Building 10. On top of abundant plugs, there is also a strong Wi-Fi signal and an opportunity to get a drink, snack or meal if you get hungry. Plugs are abundant, but chairs are not. If you do get a chair, you can keep it until 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and until 2 p.m. on Fridays. This is my favorite place to plug in at school.
