The Sinclair Pride men’s basketball team defeated Miami Middletown, 97-85, in a game that was never really that close on Wednesday, Nov. 18.
British Alexander and Jason Clardy tied for the team lead with 18 points apiece and guard Jared Nolan lead the Pride with five assists and four steels in just 14 minutes of play.
The Pride got out of the gates strong and led the Thunderhawks 45-36 at halftime following a buzzer-beating three point shot by guard De’Angelo Gates who scored 13 first-half points.
“We had two very spirited practices (this week),” said Pride Coach Jeff Price. “I think we came out in the first half with a sense of urgency and we were able to get a couple runs.”
The highlight of the game came with 12 minutes left to play when the Pride was leading 62-44. Alexander grabbed a rebound and threw a long outlet pass to Nolan, who then threw the ball of the backboard to the trailing Alexander who slammed it to a thunderous ovation by the Sinclair crowd.
With this win, Sinclair improved its record to 3-1. Their next game is at the University of Rio Grand on Nov. 21.
