NBA Blog: A memo to LeBron James

lebronIf LeBron James didn’t want to talk about his pending free agency, he should have signed a contact extension.

After months of chitchat about where King James will play next year, LeBron has done something I never expected: he’s gotten tired of talking about himself.

“This free agent talk is getting old. It’s getting old and I think I’m going to stop. Tonight will be the last time I answer any more free agent questions until the offseason,” James said on Nov. 9.

Hey LeBron! Why didn’t you say that during training camp?

We live in a culture where the MLB Hot Stove League gets more attention than the actually games.

What did you think they were going to ask you?

A memo to King James:

Quit talking about your free agency until next year (like you’ve said you’re going to do) and quit talking about how winning is more important to you than money because it obviously isn’t; James is rumored to skip playing for the national team next summer so he can film a documentary about his free agency.

What LeBron needs to do is focus on this season. He has a good team, a borderline championship contender if Delonte West comes back. I have no problem if James leaves next year because he has given us seven good years, but for this season he’s still a Cavalier and he should start acting like it.
