Dear Print Journalism,

I’m writing this letter because I feel it is the most intimate way I can tell you how I feel. We’ve only been in a relationship for two years, but it feels like a lifetime. Though you haven’t been exclusively mine, I’ve dealt with it perfectly. I know that it would be selfish of me to not let others know of your greatness.

But, lately you have caught a lot of flak. Before writing this letter, I saw one of your siblings – Television Media – talking about how you were a waste of money. People who have had longer relationships with you than I’ve been on this earth are talking about how you’re dying and that there is no hope for your place in the technologically advancing world.

Over the summer, I got to know you in ways that I never expected. My internship at the Dayton Daily News opened my eyes into why I fell for you in the first place. I felt special and every day was one that I cherished, since I knew that the feeling would be one I wouldn’t experience for the next few years.

While I was there, I talked to many of your other suitors and though they encouraged me to continue to pursue this relationship, they suggested that I look to other avenues as well.

What made me fall for you was the knowledge and history you possessed. You also were very appealing to the eyes and the touch.

I like to keep my options open, but my loyalty resides with you. I do believe that one day you will leave me, but not in spirit. I believe that you will evolve into something greater and more inspiring than ever.

And I will remain by your side, through thick or thin. Yes, I may flirt with others that may not be to your liking, but by your side I will be.

‘Til death do us ‘part

Sincerely yours,

Kamari Stevens
