Denver Nuggets (1-0) at Portland Trailblazers (1-0), 10:30 p.m. on TNT

Northwest division rivals battle tonight for western supremacy. Both teams won their openers and look to extend their winning streaks.

Sixth man extraordinaire J.R. Smith is out for the Nuggets, serving a league imposed seven game suspension for his guilty plea of a reckless driving incident. Other than that, all of the Nuggets will be in action, including star player Carmelo Anthony. The team looks hungry for a title and rookie Ty Lawson impressed many with his 17-point debut.

The Trail Blazers have a new look this year after getting bounced from the playoffs in the first round last season. Former Buckeyes star Greg Oden had 12 rebounds and five blocks Tuesday against the Rockets. Newly acquired point guard Andre Miller came off the bench behind starter Steve Blake. The Blazers have a deep team with multiple scorers.

I expect the Nuggets to take their momentum from last night’s win into Portland and steal a game on the Blazers home court.
