“RW/RR Challenge: The Ruins” Competition Analysis Part 1

With a few days before the new season of the “Real World/Road Rules Challenge” begins, I decided it would be important to thoroughly analyze each of the cast members on both squads. With the season placing the “Champions” vs. “Challengers” it will be interesting to see how they set up the challenges and what the voting-off process will be. With that being said, let’s get down to business. (From this point on I will refer to Road Rules as “RR” and Real World as “RW” and a “*” will be next to cast members I’m not familiar with due to the fact of not watching their season.)

“Champions”

Darrell (RR Campus Crawl): He has been apart of the winning squad on each of his four appearances on the “RW/RR Challenge,” but it’s been three years since his last challenge and there are a bunch of new players this time around.
Derrick (RR X-Treme): Derrick is a feisty competitor. He’s been on eight challenges, including “The Ruins.” Depending on how they set up the competitions will be a key factor in how well Derrick does. If it’s every person for themselves, then Derrick should do well. If not, then Derrick’s advantages might not be able to be put to good use.
Evan (RW/RR Challenge: Fresh Meat): Evan won on “The Duel 2” and it seems that he has a good grasp on how the challenges work. He has a good mix of athletic ability and forming alliances that benefit him greatly.
Evelyn (RW/RR Challenge: Fresh Meat)* I know nothing about Evelyn, but from her good looks I can tell that she’ll at least survive two or three episodes.
Ibis (RR X-Treme): Oh, Ibis. She will definitely stay longer than one episode, but she has a history of causing unnecessary drama, which might not allow to her win the challenge, but will definitely, be some interesting television.
Johanna (RW: Austin): Johanna may have a tough challenge this go-round. Her ex-boyfriend Wes, is also on the “Champions” squad and from watching the trailer, I think she’s in a relationship with fellow “Champions” teammate Kenny. That being said, couples usually have better chances of lasting on the show, due to their automatic alliance.
Johnny (RW: Key West)*: I don’t know much about Johnny, but he appears to have an easygoing personality that will allow him to skate through most of the challenge without much hard work.
Katie (RR: The Quest): Katie is a staple on the shows. She’s not very good, in my opinion. She’s not overly athletic and her diminutive stature doesn’t help. She will have to rely on the good will from her teammates to make sure her stay is a lengthy one.
Kenny (RW/RR Challenge: Fresh Meat)* I think Kenny may be have a target on his back for the entire season. With being a two-time challenge winner and Johanna’s boyfriend, it may be hard for Kenny to have any alliances, that will be crucial in his success this season.
Susie (RR: Down Under): Susie may be too nice for her to really stand a chance in this competition and she doesn’t have the strength to be able to beat the other women in the eliminations, which leaves her with an early exit.
Syrus (RW: Boston): Syrus is one of the oldest, if not the oldest, castmates. Syrus might have a chance of making it through the challenge due to the underestimation of his younger teammates.
Tanya (RW: Chicago): Tanya is a wild card. She is what we like to call a “known unknown.” Or maybe vice versa. Anyway, I don’t know what to expect from Tanya competition-wise, but she will make the show a lot more interesting.
Veronica (RR: Semester at Sea): I think of Veronica as a cuter version of Katie. She’s at a disadvantage, because unlike Katie, she is known as one of the biggest manipulators of the competition. To be honest, she is one of the forefathers on how the game is played now.
Wes (RW: Austin): With his ex and her boyfriend on his team, Wes’ target triples in size. Already a strong competitor, with Johanna and Kenny probably doing their best to get him off the show, Wes’ tenure might be surprisingly short.

Tomorrow I will post up my analysis for the “Challengers,” and get your popcorn ready for the premiere on Wednesday.
