Sinclair Pride coach Steve Dintaman earned the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference Coach of the Year award after leading the Pride to a 36-12 record and a step short of the NJCAA World Series.
Sinclair won a trip to the NJCAA Region 12 Tournament for the 17th time in 21 years after winning the OCCAC Conference Championship.
Dintaman praised his staff that includes Tom Bell, Ryan Hill, Mike Parr and Dustin Bassler.
“It’s a staff that really gets along and we all share the same philosophies,” he said. “I am very thankful for my assistants.”
“It’s a nice honor, but I don’t set out my goals and list win the coach of the year,” Dintaman said of the award. “If I ever do get a plaque for that award, it’s something I’ll share with the rest of my coaching staff because all of those guys have worked very hard.”
Athletic Director Jack Giambrone said he is proud of every accomplishment that the team has made during the season.
“Coach Dintaman and his team have kind of been the poster children of what we believe athletics should be,” said Sinclair athletic director Jack Giambrone. “His academic standards for the baseball team are higher than the general academic standards for the college.”
