Sinclair Police Safety Report for April 1-15

April 1 – 15, 2009

April 1

Injury

At 1:45 p.m., a student injured her ankle after falling on the stairs in Building 8.   Medical treatment was refused.

Trespass / Obstructing Official Business / Resisting Arrest

At 2:34 p.m., a non-student fled from officers after being approached for trespassing under the railroad tracks south of Parking Lot I.  He was issued a trespass warning and arrested for obstructing official business and resisting arrest.

Injury

At 3:40 p.m., a student injured their back after slipping on the stairs in the Library.  Medical treatment was refused.

Fire

At 7:05 p.m., a student reported a small exterior trash can fire at the entrance to the Englewood Learning Center.  The fire was caused by a cigarette and quickly extinguished. There was no damage reported.

April 2

Theft

At 2:00 p.m., a student reported the theft of her unattended purse left in Building 8.

April 3

Injury

At 10:07 a.m., a student injured himself striking a punching bag in Building 19.  He was transported to the hospital by another student.

Student Judicial Affairs / Attempted Theft / Trespass Warning

At 11:35 a.m., a student attempted to remove books from the Bookstore without paying for them.  He was issued a written trespass, advised he could only be on campus for class and was referred to Student Judicial Affairs.

Injury

At 12:00 p.m., an employee reported a back injury and chest pains while lifting book bags in Building 7.  Medics were not called.

April 7

Injury

At 3:15 p.m., a student refused medical treatment after reporting a back injury in Building 8.

April 8

Theft

Between 1:09 and 1:13 p.m., unknown person(s) removed a laptop from room 11426 without permission to do so.

Student Judicial Affairs: Disruption / Impersonating Another Person / Unauthorized Entry

At 3:15 p.m., a student was discovered posing as another student in order to attend a class in Building 8. He was escorted out of class and referred to Student Judicial Affairs.

April 9

Injury

At 10:00 a.m., a part-time employee reported a back injury while working the Building 7 book bag check-in.

Student Judicial Affairs: Attempted Theft

At 11:56 a.m., a student attempted to take food from the Tartan Marketplace without paying. He was referred to Student Judicial Affairs and barred from entering the campus food areas.

Receiving Stolen Property / No Operators License

At 3:11 p.m., a non-student was stopped for a traffic violation at Fourth and Perry. He was arrested for receiving stolen property and not having a valid driving license.

April 13

Theft

At 1:48 p.m., unknown person(s) removed Sinclair property from Building 12 without permission.

Theft

At 4:27 p.m., the Fire Science Department filed a complaint alleging that two students failed to return rented fire gear at the end of winter quarter.

April 14

Theft

Between 2:45 and 3:30 p.m., a student left his sweatshirt unattended in the Tartan Marketplace which contained his cell phone.  An unknown person turned in the sweatshirt and the phone was later found in a trash can in Building 7.
