New public speaking group forming

Zach Morris hopes tp bring a chapter of Toastmasters International to Sinclair. Toastmasters helps members develop better public speaking and leadership skills.

Sinclair Community College students who love public speaking now have a place they can go to get their fix: the Sinclair chapter of Toastmasters International.

The club focuses not only on better speaking ability, but leadership development as well.

Zach Morris has been helping to organize the efforts to bring Toastmasters to campus. He says that the public speaking classes offered at Sinclair offer a great jumping off point, but the club will allow further honing of the skills these communication classes introduce.

“Class is only 11 weeks,” Morris says. “It doesn’t give people the opportunity to expand on what they learn.”

A meeting will be held on April 10 at 1:30 p.m. in the basement of Building 8. Students, faculty and staff are all encouraged to attend. Morris says response to the project has been good.

“We have about 15 people interested,” says Morris. “We are trying to get the word out.”

Anyone interested in joining should attend the meeting on April 10.
