Graphic design competition set for April 4

The 2009 Student Design Exhibition will be held from 2-6 on April 4 in the Sinclair Community College library. The exhibit will feature five categories: illustrative design, photographic design, black and white design, mixed media design and multi-media design. Prizes will be given to the top three entries in each category. One entry will also receive a best in show award.

Sinclair student Christopher Moe organized the event.

“This is the first exhibit of its kind at Sinclair,” said Moe. “We wanted to create an exhibit that showed graphic design as the art form it is.”

Mecca Apparel, W.O. Wrights, the student chapter of the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) and others, will sponsor the event.

“The competition is really open,” said Moe. “Culinary arts and interior design will be included.”

The competition will feature judges from Huffy, Coco’s Bistro, Next Wave Design, MCM and a former Sinclair student. Prizes will include: a web seminar from Next Wave Design, a 500 gigabyte hard drive, gift certificates to W.O. Wrights and many more.
