During the first week of classes there is a lot of traffic going in and out of the Sinclair Bookstore. For the past several quarters students had been instructed to leave their book bags in front of the store but as of Monday, Jan. 12 procedure has changed.

“We had three book bags stolen last week,” said Security Officer Dennis Wills.

Wills said that incident influenced the new procedure Sinclair is now using. Students are required to check their book bags in at a table on the first floor of Bldg. 7 and are given a ticket that is needed to receive bags that are checked in. According to Security Officer Erman L. Cole I, who’s been working at Sinclair since 1998, they used a similar procedure years ago.

“It’s really a controlled kind of situation [now],” said Cole.

Cole said that he thinks that some of the cause for the missing book bags may be because students have similar looking book bags.

“A lot of students don’t mark their personal property,” said Cole.

Cole added that the students have been adjusting well to the change and he has heard some praise from the students.
