NFL Recap – Weeks 7 & 8

Weeks seven and eight of the NFL season are over which means that the season is just about half way done.

Nick Wissman, a football fan said, “I think the NFL season has been pretty competitive. The early season favorites are obviously playing as expected but I like how there aren’t any clear-cut favorites.”

Week seven brought us some games with outcomes that were a little shocking. The first game  was the Titans vs the Chiefs. This seemed to be an offensive battle between Patrick Mahomes and Derrick Henry, but that didn’t really happen. The final score was 27-3 Titans. The second game was between the Bengals and the Ravens, which was a divisional battle for first place. The Bengals seemed to have handled the Ravens, winning 41-17.

This week also brought us Matthew Stafford and the Rams vs his old team the Lions. This game was close until the fourth quarter where the Rams pulled ahead and won 28-19. The Cardinals beat the Texans to stay undefeated with a record of 7-0.

Wissman said: “I was surprised that Arizona would be looking like a legit contender, New Orleans being as competitive as they are, Matthew Stafford having that much of a positive impact on the Rams, and finally how well defenses have been able figure out and limit Mahomes and the Chiefs offense.”

Week eight had some games that came down to the last second and some other games that might as well have been over after the third quarter.

To start off, the Thursday night game was a big game. The Packers vs the Cardinals. The Packers had only one loss on the season and the Cardinals had zero losses. This game came down to one play which went in the favor of the Packers. The end score was 24-21 Packers, meaning there are no undefeated teams left.

These next three games were just as close. The Titans vs the Colts went into overtime, where the Titans were able to pull off the victory with a score of 34-31. The Bengals vs the Jets was another game that ended with the exact same score as the Titans-Colts game with a score of 34-31. The Jets were the team that was able to win the game. Finally, The Saints vs the Buccaneers ended pretty close. The game was ended by Tom Brady throwing a pick six, giving the Saints the win 36-27.

With football just about half way through, teams will begin to show whether they are going for the Super Bowl or the first overall pick in the draft.
