NFL Recap – Weeks 3 and 4

With another two weeks down in the National Football League season, here is a recap of weeks three and four.

Week three had some close games but also some not-so-close games. The Cleveland Browns faced the Chicago Bears in what was Justin Fields first start this year, and it did not go his way. The Browns handled the Bears pretty easily with a final score of 26-6.

Our other Ohio team–the  Cincinnati Bengals–did pretty well too. The Bengals won their game against the Pittsburgh Steelers 24-10, which is always an important game. After all the games ended,  there were two big things that happened as a result. The first was that the Kansas City Chiefs were in last place in their division of the American Football Conference West division, which they have won the last couple  of years. The second big outcome was that there were only two teams who stayed undefeated at the end of week threel; the Arizona Cardinals and the Las Vegas Raiders.

Week four had some low scoring games, along with an upset or two. In week four, the New York Jets, who were winless, beat the Tennessee Titans in OT 27-24. The Buffalo Bills game was not even close. The Bills beat the Texans 40-0, forcing four turnovers and only holding the Texans to 110 total yards. The Arizona Cardinals won their game against the Los Angeles Rams, meaning that they are still undefeated. On the other hand, the Las Vegas Raiders lost to the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday Night Football, bringing their undefeated streak to an end.

The Chicago Bears faced off against the Detroit Lions and won, which means that Justin Fields won his game as starting quarterback. Both Ohio teams, the Browns and the Bengals, won their own games. Finally, Tampa Bay faced off against the New England Patriots, meaning that Tom Brady faced off against his old team and Tampa Bay won 19-17.

At the end of week four, there are two divisions that have a three-way tie for first place. Both divisions are in the American Conference Football, one being the North division and the other being the West division. The Baltimore Ravens, the Browns and the Bengals are all 3-1 in the North division. The Denver Broncos, the Raiders and the Chargers are all also 3-1 in the West division.

Andrew Simones, a student at Sinclair and a big football fan said: “The anticipation for each week has seemed to be at an all time high. With interesting storylines such as Brady’s return to New England and the continual Aaron Rodgers saga in Green Bay.”

With one week able to change a whole lot in the NFL, just imagine what two weeks can to. A team can go from being in first, to being tied for last or in complete last. Stay tuned for the next recap after weeks five and six.
