Three Metal Gear Games That Could Benefit The Series

With rumors circulating on the internet about Konami bringing back their old games such as a reboot of Castlevania, Silent Hill, and a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3, along with many others, has gotten fans of these games excited and worried given Konami’s reputation of using games as a form of gambling.

The series Metal Gear Solid and potential games that can revive the series with or without Hideo Kojima. Metal Gear Solid 3 isn’t the only one rumored to be made, Metal Gear Solid 1 is also getting a reboot with the rest of the games 2 and 4 getting remasters.

Despite fans of Kojima being against new Metal Gear games, even remakes, I thought of some potential games for the series that would be perfect for a rival.

Peace Walker Remake:

A remake of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker would be a great idea for a rival of the series. Konami can take the positive elements from The Phantom Pain such as the open-world design and gameplay and bring it to a Peace Walker remake but fix the flaws of The Phantom Pain like the barren world design like Africa and Afghanistan and give us a detailed open world applied to Costa Rica which is the setting of Peace Walker such as friendly nonplayable characters who reside in towns, cities, and villages.

A reinvention of side ops would be perfect for a remake. Both Peace Walker and The Phantom Pain have repetitive side activities that make you not want to continue either game when you play them so more variety to the quests would be needed for a remake.

The Boss’s Perspective:

A prequel to Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater would bring back the series to the gaming market. Originally Metal Gear Solid 5 was supposed to be about The Boss, Snake’s mentor from the third game, but Konami wanted Kojima to make one from Big Boss aka Naked Snake’s perspective again.

So, what would a Metal Gear game from The Boss’s viewpoint be like? Well, for starters, it will have to be set during World War Two where we play as The Boss leading her elite Kobra Unit.

The game will need an open-world setup like The Phantom Pain where players can choose which play style is best for the mission they embark on and have some creative side missions.

As for the story, the game’s storytelling can be based on the lore surrounding the character.

To learn about The Boss, I recommend Metal Gear Wiki.

Metal Gear Foxhound:

A Metal Gear Solid game from FOXHOUND or the Fox Unit would be good for the series’ comeback, particularly from the elite 01 Unit which was a special forces unit in Fox led by Meryl, Solid Snake’s former lover who was in Metal Gear Solid 4.

What would the game be about or play like? In terms of narrative, the game can be set in the near future like with Metal Gear Revengeance.

You play as a team leader of the 01 Unit in Southeast Asia hunting a terror group that has metal gear, and there we get some crazy twist like with the other Metal Gear games.

In terms of gameplay, it will need to be an open world like The Phantom Pain giving us plenty of options to tackle mission objectives. The gameplay will need to be a mix of The Phantom Pain and Ghost Recon Wildlands or Breakpoint, a command wheel will be viable since we will be a team leader and will need various ways of commanding our squad.

Rather than the usual one-man team like with previous entries instead, we are a four-man team infiltrating enemy bases, etc.

Metal Gear Solid has many opportunities to add things to the series to improve the series.
