For years, people have speculated the existence of aliens; I for one have always been a believer in them. My own mother and Nana both have seen a UFO, and it wasn’t until recently that I saw one for myself, or what I believe to be a UFO. A few nights ago, on June 5, 2021, my mom and I were driving through downtown Troy late at night when we spotted a strange orange light in the sky. My initial thought was that it was an airplane or some other type of aircraft, as those are common at night and are often confused for UFOs. However, the object did not have any other lights, and there was nothing blinking like is typical of an airplane. As I was driving, I could only sparingly observe it as we sat at a stoplight but my mother watched it until it disappeared.
She claims that the object was saucer shaped, with an orange light on the bottom. It passed overhead and was able to be seen for a few more minutes before quickly disappearing. The sky at the time was clear, so it did not disappear behind a cloud.
Sightings like this are extremely common nowadays, and it seems like more and more reports of UFOs come almost daily. After years of speculation, the U.S. Government finally revealed the existence of UFOs in April of 2020 when the Pentagon released three videos of ‘confirmed UFOs‘ that had been captured by Naval Airmen. However, the official stance on aliens and UFOs by the government has changed as of late. In June, the U.S. Military is expected to release a report – one that was mandated by former President Donald Trump – detailing their look into UFOs. The report does not confirm nor deny the existence of UFOs or aliens but does prove that the government has looked into such things. Initially, the Pentagon revealed in 2017 that the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program backed by Harry Reid, however, the reveal was done five years after funding for the program had ended.
Senator Marco Rubio (R-Fla), stated that he was more concerned about a U.S. adversary making weapons or technology that could potentially cause more harm than he was about life from outer space. It’s thought that if the objects seen by both civilian and military personnel alike are not UFOs piloted by aliens, they could be technology created by another country, such as Russia or China.
Whether aliens are real or not, the announcement of Area 51 and UFOs potentially being real is enough for those who believe. It’s the confirmation that most have been waiting for, and for now, it’s enough to keep the conspiracy theories going.
