Congratulations to Marita Abraham For Being One of This Year’s Honorees For the 40 Under 40 Award

Congratulations to Sinclair’s biology professor, Marita Abraham, who has been named as one of
this year’s honorees for the 40 Under 40 award. Every year, The Dayton Business Journal honors
the region’s young professionals with the 40 under 40 awards to recognize inspiring leaders.

This year, Marita Abraham is an Associate Professor of Biological Sciences at Sinclair
Community College. Not only does she have a place in the faculty, she also serves as the
Principal Investigator (PI) for the Sinclair LSAMP program. For those who do not know, the
LSAMP PI program serves on the governing body of The Ohio LSAMP Alliance Steering
Committee. It holds the institutional authority to determine the objectives and goals of the
Sinclair LSAMP program.

According to the Dayton Metropolitan Area, “Marita Abram joined Sinclair Community College
(SCC) in 2011 as an Instructor for biological sciences. She was appointed to the rank of Assistant
Professor in 2015, attained tenure in 2016, and was appointed to the rank of Associate Professor
in March of 2019. Her academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in Biology from
Albion College in Michigan and a Master of Science in Biological Sciences from Wright State
University. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Community College Leadership (DCCL) at
Ferris State University in Michigan.”

Abraham stated that being an educator is one of the most rewarding careers that one should
partake in. Her personal philosophy of what it means actually to teach students is to transform
student’s minds in a manner that challenges them to grow.

Roughly 200 people from around the Miami Valley were nominated this year! Once again,
congratulations to Marita Abraham for being one of this year’s honorees for the 40 Under 40
Award!
