This month is stacked with some of the most anticipated titles of the year. Fantasy, grimdark, Lit-fic-you name the genre and it likely has a mega-release worth checking out. Below are the five we think are the best.
The Life Impossible by Matt Haig, Sep. 3
Matt Haig took the world of literature by storm when Midnight Library first hit storshelves. He’s back with a title thousands have been looking forward to. At a sleek 336-pages the book readers can expect a story that is short but sweet.
Pay the Piper by George Romero and Daniel Kraus, Sep. 3
Yes, you read that right. Turns out, legendary filmmaker George Romero left behind an unfinished novel when he passed in 2017. The person that found it in an archive just so happened to be New York Times Bestselling Author Daniel Kraus. The novel is finally seeing the light of day after Kraus finished it. Its backstory alone makes it worth checking out.
Somewhere Beyond the Sea by TJ Klune, Sep. 10
The follow-up to the critically acclaimed “The House on the Cerulean Sea” is a shoo-in for one of the hottest titles of the year. With this new effort TJ Klune and protagonist Arthur Parnassas will be welcoming fans back to a world loaded with magic and secrets.
Evil In Me by Brom, Sep. 17
Brom has been a master of dark fantasy for years and he’s back with another sordid tale courtesy of Tor Nightfire. This slim novel centers on a punk rock singer that winds up possessed by a demon. Like Brom’s other works, there should be plenty to keep readers glued from one page to the next. As if that wasn’t enough, the book also comes with over 20 paintings by the author. Fans of dark and demonic fiction are in for a good time.
Hand of Abaddon by Nick Kyme, Sep. 24
It’s a massive month for British sci-fi author Nick Kyme. Not only are a boatload of his older works getting re-released as part of a massive collection but his penultimate novel in the Dawn of Fire series is scheduled to come out on the same day. Readers of the hit Dawn of Fire books will be keen to pick up the eighth title which promises plenty of action and a gripping plot. That its cover is awesome doesn’t hurt either.
There were so many good titles the list could have been twice as long. Let us know on social media if we missed a book your looking forward to or if you plan on picking up any of the ones listed above.
