The best movies to watch this spooky season

Its finally spooky season and that means there’s no better time to enjoy a movie or two. Check out our list below to fill your Oct. with chills, thrills, and plenty of laughs.

V/H/S/Beyond, available on Shudder

This anthology style horror series has faced criticism in the past for its seemingly uneven quality. But early reviews suggest this might be the best iteration in the “V/H/S” to date, with plenty of praise from critics and audiences alike. Six terrifying tales with seven directors behind the helm is what the movie promises. If the reviews we’ve seen are any indication, this time around the franchise has certainly delivered.

Gore-hounds are in for a goodtime as Art the Clown returns for more bloody mayhem. Certainly, more of an acquired taste, expect this to cater to fans of the original two movies. David Howard is playing the clown for the fifth time in a movie that sees Art take on the survivors of “Terrifier 2”.

Saturday Night, in theatres Oct.11

These days “Saturday Night Live” (SNL) is practically a national institution. It can be hard to imagine but there was a time when they were the new kids on the block. Gabriel LaBelle and Rachel Sennot have lead roles in this movie all about the beginnings of the iconic show. Expect to see the kind of hijinks and masterful comic timing that made SNL a staple back in the 70s.

Venom: The Last Dance, Oct. 25

The most anticipated release of the month sees Tom Hardy and his symbiote back for round three. And where in past films they had to contend with Riot (Riz Ahmed) and Carnage (Woody Harrelson), Eddy Brock will face off against an eldritch alien being this time.

Fancy seeing the creator of Venom, Knull, in his first cinematic appearance or has another movie caught your eye? Drop us a line on social media and let us know what you’ll be watching this Oct.
