Bee and PuppyCat is a long time favorite cartoon of mine. It all started back in 2013 when Bee and PuppyCat premiered on the Cartoon Hangover YouTube channel. Already being a massive fan of Cartoon Hangover, I was delighted when the show started and watched it through to 2016. The show had a “2019 reboot” in development called Bee and PuppyCat: Lazy In Space that went through incredibly long production, a massive leak, and just a bunch of misfortune. Without officially premiering, it felt like the reboot wasn’t going to happen. That there’d be such a messy end instead of a continuation of a beloved show. However Netflix picked up the reboot and, just a few days ago, it finally officially premiered – alongside three new episodes to explain the original run.

Netflix’s “Dead End: Paranormal Park” is a Binge-Worthy Gem

For those new to Bee and PuppyCat, the show focuses on the adventures of Bee – a 22 year old young woman. She’s bubbly, cute, and a little aloof. Her life changes when her wish to have ‘someone to take care of’ is answered by PuppyCat, an adorable alien creature, meeting her. The two of them do intergalactic temp jobs together. It’s a delightful show. The jokes are great and the balance between ‘wacky adventures’ and surprisingly intricate storyline is so impressive. The show is a lot like Bee in that way, where at first glance she seems silly and childish. But there’s more depth to her than just that. The show makes great use of the side characters, primarily the Wizard family who live next to Bee within the split home apartment complex. The Wizards are a big family with multiple siblings, all of which are very fun to learn about.

I was incredibly worried about the reboot. Netflix is doing amazing as far as animation is concerned: just look at Dead End, She-Ra, Cuphead, Inside Job, and Castlevania, etc. – but I still held hesitation. Reboots are so tricky to do correctly. But I was pleasantly surprised by this reboot. I also appreciate that it’s been 9 years since the original premiered, it feels more justified to call this a reboot. I’m happy the team is finally ‘home’ on Netflix and that great care has been put into the show’s transfer. I adore Bee and PuppyCat and am excited for season two!
