With LGBTQ+ pride month quickly approaching you may wonder what you can do to celebrate. The Clarion is here to give a list of local things and to spread some light on what Sinclair is doing. Pride month is a time to be around like-minded people and to express yourself freely. Pride has a long history dating back to the 1969 Stonewall riots.
Lex Rakovan, the LBTQ support liaison, told The Clarion that, “Myself and Brite Signal Alliance will be having a presence at some of the local prides this season! Brite Signal Alliance is hosting a table at the Dayton Pride on June 1, 2024 from noon to 4 p.m. as well as walking in the parade that starts at 11 a.m.. I’ll also be having a table at the first ever Kettering Pride on June 14 from 4-8 p.m. at Delco Park. Anyone’s welcome to come walk with us or hang out at our tables!”
There are also many other local celebrations and festivals.
- Middletown June 21, 5-9 p.m.
- Beavercreek June 9, 2-8 p.m.
- Fairborn June 21, starting at 5 p.m.
- Yellow Springs June 29, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Springfield June 22
Here is a list of all the pride events in Ohio in 2024.
Brite Signal Alliance is hosting a table at Black Pride again this year. There is also Pride on Fifth and many other local events happening that are free to join and enjoy.
No one should be afraid to go out and have a little fun expressing themselves in an open-minded community. Everyone is welcome to whatever festival they choose to go to and it is encouraged to bring a friend. Check around for local dates and times for your own cities to see what they are holding.
