If you love quilting, crocheting, knitting, or any form of weaving fabrics, there is a upcoming event for you to connect with artisans of fabric. Connecting Stitchers is a Sinclair-hosted event, which (as the name suggests) is about connecting people through conversation and stitching. The serene sight of people sitting peacefully, talking about school, family, hopes, and dreams accompanied by a symphony of piercing needles and clattering hooks. The flow of thread woven in and out of fabric, the hearty laugh of joy, once a project has been finished, is a sweeter sight than a candy store. You could see the joy beaming from the Northwest Loggia projecting throughout the entire library and into the campus as a whole.
The only thing more beautiful than the cute crochet animals, and extravagant embroideries are
the connections that were made. Truthfully, with its brutalist architecture, and grey-red accented
well…everything, Sinclair, especially on overcast days, can be depressing, but college events such as
Connecting Sitchers; which are created not by the massive funding like other colleges, but by the
connections and kindness of our students and faculty is what makes Sinclair Community College, so
special and unique. Any beginner, intermediate, or master at any form of art that involves rich fabrics,
steel needles, colorful yarns, and plastic hooks will be ecstatic about attending Connecting Stitchers Connecting Stitchers meets every second Wednesday of each month at the Northwest loggia in the Sinclair Library starting at 12 p.m. and ends at 1 p.m.
