Last week, a mother duck and her 14 ducklings found a temporary home outside of Building 14.
“She found a nice place in the bushes for her nest. The wall [where the ducks were] blocked the wind and the area is not too far from the river,” according to Penny Stewart, multimedia and graphics producer for learning technology support. Stewart saw the ducks outside Building 14.
To protect the ducks, somebody put a sign on the door warning people that the ducks were nearby. This caused people to choose an alternative route into and out of Building 14.
The ducks have since flown away, and Stewart said she hopes that they were able to make it to the river.
“There were so many people looking out for the ducks,” Stewart said. “Oh, I thought it was funny because I thought 14 ducklings for Building 14. Fourteen little mascots!”
